Basic Vegan Pesto


  • 3 cups basil, tightly packed

  • 1/3 cup pine nuts

  • 1/3 cup olive oil

  • 3 Tbsp nutritional yeast

  • 2 cloves garlic

  • juice from 1/2 lemon

  • salt

  • pepper


  1. Place the basil, pine nuts, nutritional yeast, garlic, and lemon juice in a food processor.

  2. Blend or pulse on low, while slowly adding in your olive oil. Add a pinch of salt and pepper.

  3. Taste and adjust for seasoning.

  4. Continue to blend until you reach your desired consistency.

  5. Pair with spaghetti squash (recipes on my website), brown rice pasta, protein, or your meal of choice.
