Dill Rice


  • 3/4 cup basmati rice

  • 3/4 cup filtered water

  • 2 teaspoons plus more of olive oil

  • 1/2-3/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup or more of fresh dill, chopped

  • 1/3 cup frozen green peas

  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder


  1. Rinse and drain rice in a pot 3-4 times or until water becomes more clear. Add 3/4 cup of water to rinsed rice.

  2. Place pot on stove and add 2 teaspoons olive oil and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Stir.

  3. Bring rice to a boil and then lower to a simmer.

  4. Once most of the water is absorbed (this typically takes ~10 minutes), add in dill, frozen green peas, and turmeric. Stir.

  5. Add a drizzle of olive oil and a bit more water. Place the lid on the pot and cook until rice is tender, about 10-15 minutes.

  6. Taste and adjust for seasoning. Enjoy!
