Honey Garlic Tofu Bites

Ingredients:

  • 1 package (14 oz) firm tofu, cut into cubes

  • 1 Tbsp oat flour

  • 1 1/2 Tbsp coconut aminos

  • 2 Tbsp honey

  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 1 Tbsp onion powder

  • 1 Tbsp red wine vinegar

  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice

  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds

  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil

  • 2 Tbsp water

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil

  • salt, to taste

Directions:

  1. Drain tofu and put it in between two folded paper towels in order to remove moisture from it. Place a weight, like a pan, on top of the tofu and let tofu sit under the weight for 30 minutes.

  2. While the tofu is being pressed, in a small bowl, combine coconut aminos, honey, minced garlic, onion powder, red wine vinegar, lemon juice, sesame seeds, sesame oil and water. Adjust to taste with salt. This will be the honey garlic marinade.

  3. Once moisture has been removed, cut tofu into cubes, sprinkle oat flour on top and toss until all cubes are well coated.

  4. Place a large pan on medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Once oil is hot, add the tofu and let it sear. Cook until the tofu is a golden brown color (about 8-10 minutes).

  5. Pour the marinade on top of the tofu and let it cook for an extra 2-3 minutes.

  6. Top with some sesame seeds. Serve over rice or vegetables.
